The Function of Media in Language Teaching Process

Media is very important thing for help us in teaching process. Teaching with media we can get easy and simple for deliver material because without media we will get difficulties for gave understanding to each other. You can imagine if you teach your student without media, certainly you can get the difficulties for convey the material for your student and your students also get difficulties for understand what you mean. An interesting media will be interest student for allow our means and they will easy for understood something. Generally, teaching media is very interesting and the representation is comfort with the characteristic of the student. So, the role of media is very important in teaching process. There are some functions of media in teaching process; interactive, time shorter, interesting, and stimulate student to be active.

The first function is the learning process will be more interactive. Of course with the media the learning process will more interactive so, between the student and teacher will interactive. The teacher used book for explain to the student and the student also has a book, so when there is teacher’s explanations are not available with the material in the book, the student can ask to the teacher and the teacher can explain so it make clearly.

The second function is the learning time will be shorter. With media student will get easy for understand about the material which explain to the student. The student also will faster to understand about the material or information which delivered by teacher. For example the teacher gives information used video or with picture and written so the student faster to accept information. Thus, the learning time will be shorter.

The third function is the learning will be more interesting. Teaching with media will be more interesting because the student will interested if the teacher uses media when the teaching process is doing. It will be different if we teach with media and don’t use media and the effect for the student also will different and of course it will be more interesting. For example the teachers use film or video for deliver message to the student, thus the student will pay attention more. This is including the evident that the learning more interesting.

The fourth is media can awaken of student emotional and student attitude. Media also can awaken the student emotional and student attitude, it means that media could interest the student attentions and student who is lazy or not active to be more active. So they build up their active and think clearly by their self with helped by media.

In the conclusion, teaching with media has any function and profitable. Four function of media are; media learning process will be more interactive, learning time will be shorter, the process of learning will be more interesting, and media can be awaken the student emotional and attitude.
