An Importance Grammar to Speak English Well

In the teaching and learning English, there are four essential skills; speaking, reading, listening, and writing. Teaching speaking is very important because with speaking, the teacher will know the result of achievement and successful of their student.  To do speak English well, grammar is very important. So, actually the grammar is part of speaking.  When we speak without grammar, it is like we eat without pilaf. With has a good knowledge in grammar we will get easier to speak English. So, the questions are; why the grammar is very important for speak? What kinds of grammar that must be mastered to help us for speak? How we can apply grammar in speaking?

When there is a question, why grammar is very important in speaking? The answer is because grammar is the main foundation in speaking. When we speak, grammar will help us for arrange the sentence to be a good sentence that has an appropriate meaning. So the listener will get the meaning from our speaking. Now there are many assumptions that said, grammar is not important in speaking. Actually, it is wrong assumption, because grammar is a tool for speak and grammar is a part of speaking. When we talk without grammar, sometimes our means could not catch by the listener because grammar is determining the meaning a sentence. For example there is someone says; Andy in London work? According the rule of grammar, it is a wrong sentence. When someone speaks like that may be the listener will get difficult about what is the speaker means. The speaker asks to listener or speaker show information for listener. So, that sentence will be made confused and it will make miss understanding between the speaker and also listener. It is the small example about the wrong sentence without grammar. So, actually grammar is very important for us to help us make a good structure of sentence so that the sentence will have a good meaning.

The basic of grammar is very important for help us in speaking. The first one is tenses, when we want speak English very well, the first that must be mastered is tenses because tenses will help us to decide when we speak, such as when we told to our friends about the activity in the past. So we have to appropriate tenses, and it is simple past. When we talking with our friends about activity that we are doing. So, we have to use simple present for make a good structure of sentence. So our sentence will have the right structure. The second is we have to learn about part of speech. In English there are eight parts of speech. They are; noun, pronoun, adjective, verb, adverb, conjunction, preposition, and interjection. To speak English well we also have to pay attention to those part of speech because those also very important to distinguished group of word that will used in a sentence. So, tenses and also part of speech is very important in speaking or both of them are basic skills in speaking.

After we now or learn about the basic material for speaking. We can apply them when we speak. For example we learn about tenses and we have mastered tenses, so we can used that, when we speak or tell to someone about the occurred in the past we have to think what tenses that appropriate to speak. So, an appropriate tense is simple past and we also have to choose what simple past that available to use. For example we want to tell about the activity that happened in the past but it being conducted in the past, so we have to use past continuous tense. It’s also with another. So you have to pay attention when you speak or what time you speak and you have to choose an appropriate tenses and also words that included in part of speech.

In the conclusion grammar is very important in speaking. If we speak without grammar it like we make a house but we don’t build the foundation so it very bad. It also in speaking we speak without grammar, like we speak but there is no voice. For build up a good structure of sentence we have to learn about grammar, so when we make sentence for speak it will has a good meaning and there is no miss understand between the speaker and also the listener. Tenses and also part of speech is the basic grammar that must be mastered when we want to speak English well. After we master about the basic skills of grammar, it will make easier when we want to make a sentence when we speak. The best speaking is speaking that has a foundation from grammar.
